This shoot was for By Wishtrend’s skincare products. To highlight the products’ functions and image, contrasting background tones and delicate lighting were utilized. In particular, liquid forms of the product were incorporated into the setup to emphasize the unique texture and transparency of the products. By capturing reflections of light and the products’ clear silhouettes, a luxurious yet modern look was achieved. The harmonious use of color and lighting effectively conveyed the brand’s identity.

Ampoules are small and their formula isn’t easily visible on camera. The viscosity, color, or even small bubbles are clear in person, but much harder to capture in a photo.

Lighting has to be fine-tuned—often angled or dimmed—so that the formula shows up. If it’s too bright, the content disappears. Too dark, and you lose the whole shape. It’s a balancing act throughout the shoot.

The small size means setup needs to be more deliberate. When shooting multiple items from the same brand, even slight differences in angle or height make the shots inconsistent. Fixing position early helps.

Ampoule shoots involve more prep and fewer mid-shoot changes. Once the product is set, it’s better not to touch it. Because it’s small and sensitive, each shot tends to take more time than expected.

Ampoules are more than just skincare—they are a condensed form of a brand’s identity and technology. The viscosity of the formula, micro-bubbles, and the way light refracts through the glass—each of these demands meticulous lighting to be captured properly.

Lighting requires subtle tweaks—angled shadows, intentional reflections. Gloss needs to remain, and texture must show through.

Smaller items don’t need heavy styling. The approach is quiet, clear, and intentional—focused on showing just what’s necessary, and nothing more.
